Yesterday l was giving my pups their bath. My mind wandered off to when Peter was alive. It was he who bathed the dog. From behind the closed bathroom door l could hear him singing happily to Max in his slightly off key and always joyous voice. The water would splash along to the rhythm of his song. Max would accompany him with a chwhoo, whoo, whoo! I would smile to myself, what a happy husband l had. How lucky l was. “Rubber ducky, you’re the one,

You make tubby time such fun…” he would croon to the dog as he vigorously scrubbed him…

Then l remembered how he would sing to our little niece and nephews. They loved him. “Sing Rubber Ducky! Sing On Top of Spaghetti!” they would beg. And Peter would take a deep breath, his face would become slightly florid and stretch into a big smile, then he would begin. The children would have delighted looks on their faces. The adults would smile fondly at this wonderful man.

What lovely memories my beloved husband left behind and how much love he encircled us with, how much love he spread. Just by being his cheerful, happy self, he made the world a joyous place. We were so blessed to be a part of his life. Just thinking of him puts a smile on my face.
