Letter to Nancy

Grandma Stella reaches out to Nancy upon hearing about her cancer returning, expressing love and a desire to visit despite their distant relationship.

Dear Nancy,

Today I heard that your cancer has come back and it is not good. It came as such a shock to me and grieves me greatly. I did not know that.

Over the years we have not seen eye to eye and kept a distance from each other. That doesn’t mean that I do not love you. I do. I just want you to know that. I do not want to intrude at a time like this, but if it is okay with you, if you are comfortable with my coming to see you, l would like to tell you this in person. If you are reluctant to, I understand perfectly.

I just wanted to tell you this.
