Every morning, now that the weather is good, my pups like to go out and play in the garden. This morning was no different. As soon as they saw me coming down the stairs, they rushed past me and sat by the front door, waiting for me to open it. I did so, locked the storm door, and left the main door to let more light in.

I sat at the kitchen table, sipping my tea and looking out of the window. A man passed by and noticed the door open. He stopped, considered, and perhaps thought, “Here is my chance!” He headed towards the gate. He put his hand in to open the latch.

Picasso and Ebony were sunning themselves on the lawn. When they realized that he was going to infringe on their territory, they suddenly jumped up and lunged towards the gate, barking ferociously. With a panicked look on his face, the man made a mad dash for it. I never saw a person run so fast!

I nearly choked on my tea! I couldn’t stop laughing!

Well done, Picasso and Ebony! You earned your keep today!
