Peter has been present all day today. From the moment I woke up this morning, I felt his presence. Tonight, as I leaned forward to draw the curtains close in the living room, I glanced at the cold winter scene outside. My mind flashed back to the past.

It was cold. Evening had come. Snow had muted all sound from the world outside. I leaned forward to draw the curtains close, as I had just done. The logs crackled in the fireplace. The radio was playing some waltzes. I went back to sit next to Peter. We cuddled. We sat there looking at the glow of the embers, at peace with each other and our perfect world.

How fortunate we were. How beautiful were our lives together. How happy and content we were. We thought life would continue like this to the end of time.

Today, my Peter, I give thanks for the wonderful gift of your love and sharing in your life. How fortunate I am to have had all that.
