The Night That The Thunder Struck
And the thunder roared as it angrily attacked the dark skies. Its force rattled the windows of the abodes below. Bolts of lightning lit up the startled expanse. It had been quite a while since the gods in the heavens above had waged a war such as this.
Down below, people stirred in their sleep. Dogs moaned in terror, shook uncontrollably and desperately tried to hide. Don’t be full of fear poor puppies, the thunder and lightning mean you no harm. They are just airing their differences and will soon tire. Come sit with me by the window and watch the spectacular show they are providing for us.
The thunder speedily traveled across the sky as lightning brightens up its path. The fat clouds are heavily laden with moisture. At last, the celestial gods tire from their stormy sport. The relieved pregnant clouds finally open up to release their heavy burden, just as a pregnant female releases her child from her womb when its time is due. The heavens open up. The rains begin to fall. Earth joyously welcomes it on its parched surface.
I return to my bed. As I lay my head upon the soft pillow, the gently falling rain lulls me back to sleep. The storm is over.
