Remembering Papa
It’s my Papa’s birthday today. I think of all the love he shed upon us and how well he took care of us all his living days.
The best advice he gave us, I will remember to my dying day. He said, “Do not remember me by all the money and luxuries I bestowed upon you. Those come and go. They are very fickle.
The best gift I tried to give you was education, the use of reason.’’
That gift, my darling Papa has served me very well. Each time I am touched by a beautiful piece of music, I have you to thank. Each book that seared my soul and leaves an indelible mark within me, is because you taught me to appreciate the words.
You have taught me so many things that serve me well throughout my life. You taught me integrity and self worth. You told me to look at myself in the mirror and not be ashamed of what I have become.
My dearest Papa, you have taught me that and much more. For all that and much, much more I thank you.
